What is Aadhaar?
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It is linked to biometrics and serves as proof of identity and address across India.
How to Download e-Aadhaar
- Visit uidai.gov.in → My Aadhaar → Download Aadhaar
- Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or VID
- Verify with OTP sent to registered mobile number
- Download the password-protected PDF (password: first 4 letters of your name in CAPS + birth year e.g. RAJE1990)
Uploading Aadhaar to Government Portals
Most portals require both sides of the Aadhaar card merged into a single PDF under 300 KB. Use our Aadhaar Formatter tool to merge front and back images into a ready-to-upload PDF.
- Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, PDF
- Max file size: 300 KB (most portals)
- Resolution: 200 DPI recommended
Updating Aadhaar Details
- Online update (name, DOB, gender, address): myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
- Offline update: visit nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra
- Mobile number / biometrics can only be updated offline
- Update fee: ₹50 per request
